Our story
Four years of potty training. One moment that changed everything.
Tot Perch was built by two parents — Matt and Kathryn — who have two young daughters and have lived every stage of toilet training, right alongside you. The idea didn't come from a product brief or a factory catalogue. It came from a quiet moment in the living room that just about every parent of a toddler will recognise.
Why we built this
She walked in holding it by two fingers.
Our older daughter had been using a potty training seat for years. Then our second daughter came along — and we started all over again. One day Kathryn walked into the living room holding our old seat by two fingers. She didn't say anything. Her face said it all. She already knew: no matter how hard she scrubbed it, it was never going to feel truly clean. The grooves held onto everything. That was the moment Tot Perch started.
"I had a design in my head. This is where it led me."

The thinking
Nothing overlooked. Especially the bottom.
Training seats were built for a very specific job — getting kids through those first few months. They did what they were designed to do. What nobody designed for was what comes next. The two-plus years after training ends, when your child is toilet trained but the toilet is still too big for them to use comfortably on their own. That's the gap Tot Perch was built to fill. One piece. No grooves. Nothing to hide. Built for the years after — not just the weeks of training. That's why we put our name on the bottom.
The people behind Tot Perch
Two parents. Two daughters. One product we couldn't find anywhere else.
Matt
Matt is the founder and creative director of Tot Perch. As a small business owner, he knows what it means to build something with care — to pay attention to the details other people overlook. He's been toilet training across two kids for four years. Long enough to notice everything that could be better. So he built it.
Kathryn
Kathryn is Matt's partner and co-founder. As a dance teacher, she understands something most product designers don't: confidence lives in the body. How a child feels when they sit down matters just as much as whether the seat stays still. Her perspective shaped Tot Perch in ways that don't show up in a spec sheet — but parents feel them every single day.
They have two young daughters. The seat was built for them first. Then for yours.
Who we had in mind
We have daughters. We know what these years look like.
Girls tend to be toilet trained early. And once they are, the toilet is still part of every single day — at home, at grandma's, at the park, at school, at restaurants they've never been to before. Our girls have a Tot Perch at home and one in the car. Not because we're overselling it. Because once that routine is in place, you feel the difference.
"She felt proud using it. Not like she was still in training."
The Tot Perch promise
We planned for the entire journey. Not just the training part.
We didn't set out to replace what came before. We set out to build something for what comes after. One piece. No crevices. The toilet seat closes over it and holds it in place. The lid stays open. Your child sits on the real toilet — confidently — from their very first sit to the day they don't need it anymore. That's what we designed for. The whole journey.
Fit Guarantee
Close the seat. If it closes — it fits. You'll know in two seconds. Or your money back.
Clean Guarantee
Easiest seat you'll ever clean — or your money back.
3-Year Warranty
Because that's how long we built it for.
No asterisks. No fine print. No hassle. That's the Tot Perch promise.
The seat built for the years after training.
One piece. Two ways to use it. Built to last.
